Are you sure it 2 turns out though. It an NC21 not 24. The book states 2.25 turns.

I will give it a try tonight.

Many thanks.

Ben.
Which book are you refering to?

If the oil smells of petrol are they over-flowing? Your float valves could be shot letting in excess fuel

I think you're probably right. Time to take the carbs out again!

I got hold of some documentation that quoted all the specs, valve clearances, plug types etc.

I think we need to meet up at some point if that's at all possible?

Thanks again Neo.

No worries, i can come take a look at it for you one of the weekends.

Do you mean the Haynes manual scans? They quote 2 turns out..

2.25 which is slightly richer is good if you have an aftermarket can

Not Haines, I can't remember where it was from. As I'm sure you know, Haines never made one for NC21.

I will try 2 turns though. I've got to take her apart again soon anyway as the collector/rear pipes need replacing!

That should be fun

Cheers Neo.

The Nc30/35 Haynes manual has the full NC21 / NC24 specs in the rear of the book in the appendix, these are floating around the net.

Some of them are slightly wrong though (especailly for the 24)

Didn't know that. Definitely worth knowing.

Cheers.

Hi Neo.

Decided to (just for fun) take another look inside my carbs. Judging by your previous post, it would appear that some knob jockey has put the 110/112's back to front! Also, I checked the emulsion tubes and all 4 have 5 (+1) holes! Has there ever been nc21 carbs with this arrangement, to your knowledge?

By the way, I tried the easistart test and it did make some difference to the revs. The problem is, Honda have discontinued this item. I called David Silvers who advised of this and said they could get some stock from somewhere but the price has now doubled to £10 + vat. Robbing gits.

Any suggestions as to where I could get these rubbers from at a better price?

Speak to you soon.

Ben.

That'll be why it's not running right ;)

If your emulsion tubes are all the same stick with that for now.. if you have some with more holes in they always go at the back.

Can't remember the last time I looked in some 21 carbs :)

110's in the front, 112's in the rear.

2 turns out on the pilot screws.

You deffo have an airleak too so without some new rubbers you'll never get it runnign right. After faffing around with my ZXR I put new rubbers on and it instantly made things 1000% better

That have them in-stock.. £10+vat

They are discontinued too, nobody else seems to have any :(

They have the NC24 ones in too.. £5 + vat but there must be some differences.

Looks like it's going to be a £40 jobby, but they'll last as long as you have the bike :-)

I've ordered them. £54 with postage and VAT. No cheap but if it cures the problem, then money well spent. Just hope they come in time for the weekend for me to tinker.

The jets were wrong! I just need to work out which float seal is passing. I've taken them all out again to investigate but can't see anything blatant. I can't think of any other reason why I would get a strong smell of fuel when she's parked up and why I would get petrol in the oil.

I suppose that now I've switched the jets over I will have to rebalance the carbs!?!

All good fun.

Cheers for your help neo. When she's up and running, I will have to pop over and show you the fruits of our labour!

Again, many thanks.

Ben.

Nah it shouldn't need rebalancing.

If your messing with it over the weekend i'll possibly be free on Sunday...
