Did you change the linkage or have you used the original NC29 linkage for this? Also what size washers did you require for the bottom eyelet? I've got one of these shocks from my 03 R6 track bike hanging around so might try bunging it in as a stop gap until I have the money for a new replacement.
Cheers,
Ben

Right well I'm all finished and I've dug the shock out. By 3/8 inch washers is that the internal diameter of the washer you're using? Do you know what the thickness might be? Also the shock has a roller bearing pivot at the bottom mount but the top mount point appears to be fixed (no bearing). Is this correct or should there be a bearing that has simple seized solid?
Cheers,
Ben

Ignore that last post. Shock is in fine and I've taken the bike for a quick shakedown run. Soooo much better than the reconditioned standard shock that was in there before! As for fitting, I made up two 6mm spacers from M10 (I think) washers and had to grind away a small part of the lower linkage to get clearance for the adjuster which is on the left hand side there (coolant bottle and battery box fit fine). Just about possible to adjust without taking tank off preload adjustment is a bit interesting with the reservoir right there. I'll do a bit more fine tuning but cheers for the tips - well worth the effort!

Glad it worked out for you, only other thing that would really need to be done if you want is to re-spring it and put the required valving inside for it.

Ok, I have just bought one of these shocks and have a couple of questions to ask before I fit.

It seems from first glance without taking the bike apart, that the compression reservoir (tube) will touch the wiring at the top of the frame under the tank, where is the best place to re-route this wiring. While I realise it depends on your weight what is the best settings to start with for compression and preload, Im 75Kg and shortass so cant have the bike topped out for sure. what size shock spanner would I need?

Also above its mentioned 3 washers are needed, is that 3 per side or 3 in total?

any hints or tips appreciated.

Reckon this conversion would fit an NC23?

Cheers,

I sourced a 08 R6 shock for my NC29 and it would not fit.

It would have required a couple of washers on the top mount, and about 1mm machined off the bottom mount of the shock (not a problem as there was plenty of metal there).

The problem was that the reservoir fouled the cross bar on the chassis which is flush with the bottom of the fuel tank that mounts the top bolts of the rear subframe. The option for me would have been to grind away a section of the chassis (only about 2 or 3mm) but this was not the route I would like to take.

Not sure if this is the same problem as you but it may help.

The shock I installed was a R6S not the R6.
