Totally down to the individual, weight riding style etc, I always liked a hard set up, my team used to race with a very soft set up. Only thing I could suggest is count the clicks and the set it half way, then do the same for the preload. At least that way you are starting in the middle so to speak lol. You also have to remember that you might have to make small adjustments for different circuits. I keep a book with gearing fuel level etc, it comes in handy sometimes.
Remember also that what you adjust at the front will affect the rear.
Another usefull thing to do is push down on the tank, the bike should rise and fall evenly. Well it works for me anyway lol.

I am right in thinking that you can change the early NC30 forks for the later ones with both adjusters, it is just a straight swap isnt it?/
