How much of a problem was it to alter the Ducati wheel Smev?
There's plenty in the local breakers, dirt cheap. Got a full machine shop at work so I can get that end sorted. How wide was you're rim?
I assume that the seat, wheel, fairing etc was off the one you had that got wrecked?

The wheel as far as I can remember only needed a lttle mod to the rear/mounting face. I seem to remember that the 4 spigot holes that the NC30 wheel uses were the same for the Ducati.
To mount the wheel, it needed a 4.5mm spacer to off set the wheel to the right, this allows clearance of the tyre and wheel on the swingarm. You can just see it in the middle picture between the wheel and disc.
The subframe and undertray needed to be altered/bent out of the way, to allow the wheel/suspension to rise up when under compression.
The wheel I used was a 748 one which I believe uses a 180 section tyre - the tyre I had fitted was a random 170 section one the local tyre place had knocking around!
The seat is one I picked up off ebay from a 996/8 with mid panels from a cutdown NC30 seat unit.
The subframe is a modified standard one to allow fitment of the one-off exhaust system I had made.
The main fairing is a race one with Cagiva mito lights grafted in.
Front end is off a ZXR400.
Paintwork was done by Bodyworks in St Just - Cornwall

Did the 4.5 mm offset leave the wheel centred on the bike centre-line? Any spacer required for the drive sprocket end?
Which disc did you use? Duke or OE? Same with the caliper?

Have you guys heard of Delkevic? They do a brand new 17" RVF wheel for about 150 quid!

Yep heard of Delkevic - they are part of DK Motorcycles. Good for the OE look But I wanted a wider rear tyre and the Ducati look.
Mananon - the wheel ended up offset to the right by 4.5mm as the spacer went between the original VFR hub/disc and the Ducati wheel, so the rear wheel is in effect out of line with the centre of the bike.
This link to ebay shows the rear of the Duc wheel and how similar it is to the NC30 one.

The spacer also allows the disc nuts to be cleared and not interfere with the flush fitment of the wheel.
No spacers were needed for the chain and sproket side of the swingarm as the clearance was not an issue. However Rick Oliver does a spacer kit to move it over to the left by 5mm if you feel you need it.
The NC30 caliper was also used so no need to change anything there.
You may need to manufacture/ modify the centre washer/spacer on the ducati wheel (anodised red on the pics of my bike) to allow the VFR spindle to pass through.

Hmmmm, I found the vfr/rvf wheel to have a stock offset of 19mm, the 2 Ducati wheels I have are 23mm. My nc hub won't go into the Duc wheel either, so it will need to be bored out afew mm. Did you need to bore yours Smev ?

I bought it already converted so I'm not entirely sure what was done to it before.
But I guess it must have been bored out to make it fit.
The offset I refer to is just the extra 4.5mm spacer.
To be honest I didn't even think of the actual wheel having an offset!
But it makes sense what you are saying slo12
I had it fitted to my bike for 2 MOT's and it passed without any issues.

Offset = on a flat surface with a long straight edge, measure the width of the wheel and divide by 2. That is the center of the wheel. Then measure from the hub mounting surface to the edge of the rim. Subtract the 2 numbers and you have the wheel offset.
If the offset is changed by more than afew mm from stock, then the bike will be out of alignment enough to make it track funny.

I've got my Ducati wheel now but haven't tried fitting it yet. I'm thinking I might move the swing arm across to keep the alignment right.
