Got to work this morning on the battery alone, I left the RR unplugged and also unplugged the lights as I don't have the option to switch them off.
Its a 28mile ride, so at least I now know that the battery is good.
New RR ordered and I'm going to pick up a new multimeter on the way home.

Re: Battery / Electrics problem
I agree with what you're saying but on this
15.6v is actually quite high. i wouldnt be surprised if all the electrolyte boils out.
EDIT
oh, i see, his multimeter was screwed.

he said at 7k rpm battery is 15.6v which means it is charging...CMSMJ1 wrote:Yeah, but he is not getting any charge at all...the lights will drain the battery and he'll be fooked.

Re: Battery / Electrics problem
The multimeter for the original test (post 1) was a very expensive one I borrowed, the measurements are spot on. I couldn't take any measurements yesterday because my crappy little one is knackered. I brought a new multimeter today, but haven't had time to do any tests. the new RR should be here soon, which only leaves the generator to check out, fingers crossed its ok as the bike is up for sale and I don't really want to chuck an more cash at it.
I totally agree that its a bad idea riding around without lights on, it seems to make you invisible, but needs must, I need to get to work and this is the only way i can currently do it.

A couple of £'s on a high vis jacket will help with that.pptom wrote: I totally agree that its a bad idea riding around without lights on, it seems to make you invisible, but needs must, I need to get to work and this is the only way i can currently do it.
