wicked!!
Went down south to sunny bournemouth to do some wrestling with a mate
the night before, i went to adjust the idle and got a shock from the ht lead.
hmmmm
when i fitted new leads, i reused the rubber sleeving from the old leads.
it turned out water was sat under this sleeving, and was making its way long the sleeving where it ended near the idle adjuster.
I removed the ht lead, shortened it (to also remove possible dodgy end) removed sleeving, reftted
and got no shock.
and bike started.
I will keep you informed as to if this is the answer! whoopie
the journey there was fun, unitll my radiator started leaking.
god bless radweld!
thanks for the advice people

id check the coilpacks and HT leads, im having a poor running problem with mine at the moment,
the easiest way is to measure the resistance is, between the plug ends of the HT leads (1&4) (2&3), the resistance should be steady and equal between 21000 ohms and 29000 ohms i think.
if you get this ur leads n coil packs r fine, if its high it you need to check the resistance of the leads individually.

when i checked mine 3 of the leads were 5400ohms and 1 was 1300000ohms , i just got new leads today so i'll fit them later is i let you no if this sorted it, either way with readings like that they cant be healthy.

hope this helps gaz

cheers gaz, i checked them a while ago and they were ok. since then my multi metere has fked so end of checking!
my problem is that on ignition key or start button, if i push a bit of meteal into a ht lead and rest it on a spark, there is none, it seems to source all the energy into making the motor turn.
i am wanderign if anyone has ever ran a separate batt to the ignition part so that when you start up, there is an extra batt. of could a much larger batt just be fitted instead?
if you bump start, it start instantly

I just managed to start it from cold. i put multimeter across batt terminals and the measured amount voltage (value irrelavent as shagged multimeter) the value did not change no matter how much revs i gave it.
the rectifier DID get warm
does that mean the recitifier does work?
grrrr
