Same here. Im running the 17 inch NC35 RVF wheel on my NC30 VFR with Bridgestone BT92' tyres front and rear and I am finding them very good. I have been right to the edge of the tyre on them, would certianly be able to lean the bike to its limits if I had the balls but i dont, lol and they are lasting good too. i would estimate that I have worn 1/3rd of the tyre so far, and Ive done 3000 miles on them. Front and back were fitted at the same time and they appear to be wearing evenly. A very good tyre for mileage na dplenty of grip that you could need on a 400cc.

They are good in the wet too. I have sometimes ridden hard in the wet on these tyres (Only where I know every bump in the road etc) and I could easily get onto the edge of the tyre in the wet. But as I said before, i just dont have the balls. i love my bike too much. LOL

its not about getting to the edge of the tyre, just scrubbing the edges dosnt mean you leaning over to the maximum, the contact patch on tyres is about the same size of a credit card (or smaller) and scrubbing the edge of that card on the edge of the tyre is what gets rid of the 'chicken strips',

And tyres are not about leaning to the edge, its about the confidence they give you in doing this, When i was on track with my 090's i had 100% confidence and could throw the bike in any direction and it felt like it was stuck to the road like glue you could throw it onto you knee and be sure the bike could lean far more and you could get the power down on this angle, confidence which my 092's never gave me just riding to the edge of the tyre is not even going to be leaning enough to get your knee down

Mark (csmj01850604 etc :poke: ) has scratched the sidestand on his bike from leaning it over so much! without riding off the edge of the tyre

:Soap: lol

Please dont take this the wrong way its not meant to be a crack at you or your riding in anyway just dont wory about riding off the endge of your tyre or anything just cos you've got no chicken strips or scratched your pegs you wont

I did ride off the edge of the tyre on my 50 once when i had my knee down and pushed it a little too far and that tyre was like a bicycle

:peace:

i rode off the edge of the tyre on a cg125 once trying 2 get my knee down. I did get it down, along with the rest of my body and the bike.
What are you using now spike?

zippie do they stil make the gpr70sp? i had a feeling that was replaced by the a10.. or something along those lines?

yeah i have complete confidence in the bt92s. They will let me get to a point where i physically couldn't get the bike any lower at speed with no slipping or grip lose at all. Much to the annoyance of a friend of mine on an R6 that couldn't keep up. Its a great feeling when your knee contacts the tarmac and when you've done it once you want to do it again and again. Recently tried a continental tyre as a cheap substitute. What a mistake that was. :pmsl: For me its probably bt92s all the way, but each to their own. If i find something i like i stick with it and feel safe to let the sparks fly from the titanium knee sliders.

I don't think the contact area of the tyre changes that much when your leaning the bike over? Its not as if he tyre balances on the final 1mm edge, some of the other tyre is still on the road due to the shape of the tyre and deformation due to external forces.

There are quite a few factors to consider, lean angle, lateral acceleation, horizontal friction from road/tyre contact. Rider weight, tyre pressure.

I do agree with your whole rant I snipped about 'chicken strips'

I think too many people are worried / obsessed by them. Just concentrate on getting through the corner safely at an appropriate speed and enjoy the ride :-)

A lot depends on riding style too.

If you hang off the bike it needs to lean less than if you were still on the bike, so in theory you have more lean available so you can go even faster thru the corner. Now if your leaning off on the street and being sensible you wont be leaning the bike as far over at a given speed as someone who is still on the bike, therefor you'll have bigger 'chicken strips' than them, doesn't mean either rider is any better than the other.

I know a few guys who have noticeable chicken strips but there brilliant riders who take a lot of keeping up with :-)

If maximum lean bothers you that much just find a big comfy island and go around it a few times, they'll soon disappear.

As for my 24, its running 130/70/18 (std) BT45's bias ply's at the moment and it has no problem grinding away the footpeg feelers, footpeg, rear brake lever and side-stand when its at maximum lean.

I only dream of fancy radials.. mind you I need rear-sets on the 24 first :)

My rear is a 150/60/17. Is it poss to fit a 160 to the standard rim and will this be better then a 150.

yes it will technically fit... it may deform the tyre slightly depending on the make.

will it be any better?

Well, the 90/92's are more than adequate imho for the bike so unless theres something specific your after i'd say no.
