Hey
bought a nc29 , just engine, frame and wheels, its almost together , finally got started the other day, it revs fine, but when i give it quick blips of the throttle it starts to die, or suffocates and drops in revs?
any one got any ideas to where i should start looking?
Thanks

Yah, i just put it back together, the ower i bought it from said he just did a full service on the engine, and i would take home at his word, as he runs a local bike shop and is a decent buy,
just checked a few things.
with choke on it sits up at about 4-6 thousand revs, if i blip the throttle or turn it slighty it dies.
and now without the throttle on it will idle but touching the throttle results in it conking out.
Fuel it getting through ok, would be the mixture? what the best method of cleaning the carbs?
sorry complete noob.,
I'm only used to changing disks, pads, chain, oil, oil filters, air filters and spark plugs on my bikes.
anything from the scary engine place, goes into the shop, hence why i got this project , hopfully to learn a bit more.

i would check and blow out all of your jets, give the carbs a good clean, if its running on choke but not when you open the throttle, i would imagine that you have a pilot jet, or more, blocked. also check the air filter is good, and clean i think. while you are at itm chuck some new plugs in there if the old ones look a bit worse for wear.
i find that, to clean carbs, the best thing to use is clean, fresh fuel. give all the float bowls a good scrup and remove any 'varnish' thats in there. the thing is wth petrol over time goes bad. and it goes all 'gummy' so to say, this is why, if fuel has been sitting in cabrs for a period of time, when you start up the engine, all that gummy fuel sticks in ure jets and blocks them, and makes the float needles go sticky. take off the float bowls, give them a clean, remove the floats, but be crarefull not to lose the needle valve thats on the give them a clean, an make sure there is nothing stuck to the needle, even a tiny little hair will stop it from seating properly. get and ir line and blow all the jets out aswell, just dont do what i did and do it near your face, petrol and eyeballs dont mix at all.
