Electronic Water Pump on a CBR400 nc29

Post by natehog » Mon Apr 13, 2009 12:47 pm

Hi guys,

Does anyone have any experience setting up an electronic water pump in place of the original (I never like the linkage design on the original!

Is it just a case of blanking off the hole with a disc of metal/gasket and installing the electric pump in its place?

What pumps would you guys recommend, how reliable are they?

I will be looking to commute on this bike through summer so I'd like to improve cooling as best I can as traffic in central London is manic and I can see things getting quite hot!

I've searched the forum and cannot find any in-depth info.
When I eventually install I will post pictures in a how2guide for future reference.

Cheers
Nate

no info due to no one doing it...yet.
i am sure the other london commute bikers have no issue with the cooling system. i know most people hard wire a switch in for the cooling fan.

I have setup bigger radiation from CBR600F2 to my NC29. Hard switch also fine I think. Waza4 recommend me this one - http://www.bdkraceeng.com/Electric%20Wa ... p%201.html But price..... :Puke:

i have seen it done on a nc30,the nc'swaterpump itself was gutted, and the housing remained so all hoses still flowed into it,the electric pump was set inline between the housing and rad,and activated via its own switch

Great setup Parus!
Cheers for the info stimpy, I think gutting it would be a good route to take as it would mean less messing with the original flow of things plus it would actually save a load of work!

Cheers guys I will definitely report back with my findings once I get it setup.

I'm on the market for a CBR400 NC29 if anyone has one! I don't care for cosmetics, so long as it's mechanically sound and preferably road legal!

Cheers all
Nate :)
