starting problems

Post by balen1 » Fri Jul 08, 2016 8:56 am

Hey guys. Need a bit of help here. Recently did my valve clearances and cleaned my carbies and then put the bike back together but now having problems staring it. Each time I go to start it it back fires and pops a flame. Idle circuit screws have been adjusted back to how they were, all jets are back to how they were. Im aware that it needs to be tuned but need to get it running to sync the carbs. Any ideas? Im guessing to rich, but why?

Can you keep it running? Sounds flooded, and if you can run it, it should clear. Alternatively, is the choke stuck on?

Plugs come out wet or dry?

With plugs resting on rocker covers do they all fire when engine cranking.

If plugs are wet, dry them, crank engine with plugs removed fuel off, run/stop switch set to stop. Refit plugs and try cranking again.

If plugs are dry, refit plugs, apply a shot of easy start or fuel down carby throats and try cranking again.

Cigarette lighter fuel down the plug holes works well too.

Does any one here have a picture of what each passage in the carbies lead to. Still having problems with my rvf. Slow throttle response and no power down low. Has to be the carbies as it wasn't like this before. Can only think that I clogged something cleaning them, I did use a air compressor however but its not running right. That or I mixed up the jets.

Currently have 118s on the rear and 115s on the front. 35s for pilots and the emulsion tubes are all 3 hole tubes except 2 of them have the last hole closer to the tip of the tube. This is where im actually not sure which tubes should be front and back.

Any help would great. Thanks
