Wire position makes no difference.
Maybe now you have insufficient fuel getting to the chambers. You could try esy-start or carby cleaner down the carby throats. Towing or cranking with the throttle closed would be inclined to pull fuel into the chambers. Wide open throttle is better as it gives max air and helps dilute a rich mixture.

Thanks for the confirmation Magg. Ill pop past the shop and get some more easy-start, was on its last legs when i tried to get the bike started. Let me try that different approach and will let you know. thanks for your help!!
