Vfr 400 forks

Post by balen1 » Sat Apr 30, 2016 7:04 am

Hey guys. Servicing.my forks and having a bit of trouble working out how much oil goes back in. The Haynes manual specifies a different amount depending on the model. Not sure how to work out which model mine would be. Any help asap would be appreciated as I have to get it ready for track next Saturday thanks.

Does yours have brass adjusters on the top or just large slits for a flathead screwdriver??if you have small brass adjusters then they are later type fork, ones with large slits are early type

All.good guys worked it out. Only thing I'm curious about is that my spring aren't stock. Will they affect the amount of oil that should go back in

The NC24 and NC21 specs are listed in the back of the NC30 Haynes manual.

NC21:
10wt fork oil
Right fork 340cc
Left fork 345cc
-or-
Fork oil level 151mm (meaured from top of the stanchion tube with the spring removed and the fork fully compressed)

I always use fork oil level, rather than capacity.
