Hi, I have had a recent problem with my tickover where one cylinder seemed to be missing and tickover was erratic. I decided to clean my carbs and indeed cylinder 4 jets were blocked. The pilot screws were set at the standard 2 1/4 turns as only this one cylinder was causing problems i thought there would be no need to deviate from this setting. Now it appears the bike won't tickover smoothly unless ALL pilot screws are one turn out more at 3 1/4 turns (richer). Not sure what's doing this. Can't find any air leaks and the bike seems fine at these settings. but I find it very odd.
Any ideas?
I have sent for a new carb gasket set from the seller on here just in case its the pilot screw gaskets but would still like opinions if possible as I'm no expert.

How did you alter the pilot screws - with carbs on or off the bike.
I cant see any way of altering them when the carbs are fitted? Or am I being a bit thick!

Thanks for the info I will await my new gasket set and see if I can regain normal settings.
Sadly its carbs off and on every time repeatadly, a real pain, and not the best method if your trying to feather your adjustments.. Although on carb 1 I can just about do it with the carbs attached and engine running using a 250mm screwdriver and inserting it upwards from the front sprocket cover area. I think some sort of bendy driver and small hands are needed. The bike is still not 100% as at work this morning in the cold air it still seemed a bit stuttery and I blipped the throttle from tickover and it stalled although tickover is generally smoother.

Re: pilot screw needs 3&1/4 turns?
Hi, just a update on my problem, it seems it was those gaskets after all, as I changed them and set to a standard 2-1/4 turns. Now its now back to normal, at last. The old gaskets were a lot flatter than the new ones and I had my suspicion it was them but until you change them its hard to prove.
Thanks to LiteTek for the gaskets at a competitive price.
