Spluttering issues

hi,

Ive been having spluttering and jerking issues for a week, from pull off right through the revs, every once in a while it opens freely. Very similar to issues i had before with rectifier problems and i thought it was the same problem as the 3 yellow wires on the right side plug were melting so exchanges the rec for a new one but still got the problem.
Ive checked everything, carbs been on and off about 6 times, swopped cdi, coils, rectifier and also a set of carbs

I checked the valve clearances today and the exhaust valves need to be shimmed



My question is could that be the problem for such erratic behaviour??
