So with the help of a friend who knows a lot more mechanically we fitted a 47bhp carb restrictor kit to my NC30.
Put everything back together and it won't start. It ignites, you get a little bit of response when you turn throttle, but nothing else.
Now when I usually start this bike it has to have choke fully on, and I need to occasionally give it a bit of gas whilst I'm starting it. My friend thinks that because of the work we did, when I turned the throttle it could've flooded the spark plugs? Is this possible? Excuse me because I am out of my depth here. When we put it back together, we are certain we connected every pipe back up and everything is in the right place.
One other thing of note: after putting the throttle cables back in, upon turning the throttle they would not spring back. So the throttle just sits open. We plan to open the throttle assembly and oil the cable, because it's very stiff.
Any ideas?

If the cables worked before it is very likely you have them routed wrong so they are binding.. Very easy to do, see the service manual in the downloads section for the correct routing.
Did you adjust carb jetting when you fitted the kit? It might need it.
Finalyl yes you mihthave flooded it, sometimes the plugs wont recover but you can take em out, wirebrush em off and blowtorch them / put them on the gas to clean em up

No we did not adjust jetting but I think we'll be doing that another day.
Thanks for your help, will let you know how it goes.
