My girlfriends NC30 is having clutch related issues.
It's knotchy between gears (mines much smoother), also neutral is near on impossible to get with the engine running (again mine is easy if done when rolling).
To be it sounds like the clutch is dragging slightly/not lifting cleanly. I was going to shell out for a clutch kit (springs, friction and steel plates) but before I do is there any known problem that can cause this? I expect that the baskets wear grooves in like all bikes so maybe giving it a file may help but I've just read about a "cup" on the end of the push rod causing a problem? Is this worth looking at?

Probably any of the above. I'd take the clutch out and measure all the plates for thickness and the spring stack for height. While they're out, you can obviously check the basket for wear too. I had this on my 35 for ages, so I got the local shop to replace the plates and it was fine ever after.

The cup sounds like the actuator arm where it presses the clutch rod, only ened to remove the sprocket cover to make sure that is located right.britaxcooper wrote:My girlfriends NC30 is having clutch related issues.

(have you cheked cable is adjusted properly first?)
after that you need to take it apart and check everythins in tolerance.
if you have really bad grooves in the basket it might be stopping the plates moving.

Yes clutch cable has been replaced first with a genuine Honda item, I put a "slinky" one on first and the inner or the outer was the wrong length so gave adjustment issues. Sounds like I'll have to bite the bullet and get it apart, perhaps worth spending the cash on a clutch kit away as I expect it'll be the original one!

worth getting it apart first and measuring things to see what is and isnt out of spec before you go buying parts.
