battery getting drained

Post by matthew » Sat Jul 19, 2014 10:24 am

Hi guys im new to this site but i love my vfr400r nc30 and would love some help heres the issue the bike has just started running very badly like its only running on two cylinders and my battery kept on getting drained so i connected the bike to the car battery with jumper cables and the bike was running 100% again then soon as i disconnect the car from the bike then the bike runs like a dog again so i went and bought a new battery fully charged it over night put it in the bike then the bike started but it was still running very badly and still kills my new battery but then if i connect it to the car again then it runs 100% again any suggestions ?

hi.sounds like the dreaded regulator/rectifier problem which is well known on these bikes.unplug the wiring connector under left hand seat panel and see if theres any burning/melted plastic on the plug.also check the stator plug behind the right side middle fairing panel.see what you find out but sounds like r/r to me chap.
