Rev Counter Issues

Hi everyone. Since i bought my RVF the rev counter hasn't worked. Got a second hand one off a fellow owner who also sent me over the wiring diagram for bike.

I swapped over the internals from the one I bought and it still didn't work. Checked the earth and power with a multi meter and they're both fine.

Not very up on my electrics but the aul lad is so he tried to wire up the internals of the gauge outside the bike. Wired onto the battery then he ran a wire from one of the coils but the rev gauge was working in reverse. 16,000 was the starting point and when I revved the bike it moved down.

Any ideas what we're doing wrong?

Sorted now, was indeed the CDI that was the problem.

Picked up a second hand one from a member on here and she's sorted
