Hi guys long time since i been on here
I have 2 small problems with my nc35 that i would like to fix
First one is a new problem that started this year
When i turn the ignition on , no lights come on and the bike wont start
I have ti turn the key slightly anticlockwise then i get lights and i can start the bike
Do i need a new ignition barrel?
Also this is the annoying one as it stops me from using the bike at night
After 20mph or so i dont have any lights on my speedo
Are the bulbs easy to change and what kind of bulbs are they?
Thanks alex

Re: Nc35 ignition problem and speedo bulbs
The electrical part of the switch screws to the bottom of the switch housing, [part number 35101MR8901] so no need to replace the barrel.
It is held on with tiny security Torks screws, so it may be easier to remove the whole switch to gain access.
If you do, be careful not to round out the shallow Torks head bolts, they are tight and thread locked in.
The switch connector cable is under the air box.
When removed, switch cleaner may get it working, but I found a second hand switch [they are common to other Hondas] to replace the faulty part.
If both speedo lights go out together, then problem is likely else where.

Re: Nc35 ignition problem and speedo bulbs
Sounds like the top lamp has gone on the speedo. The bottom one is the one that usually goes on mine! They can be changed, but it's a pain in the arse because you almost certainly need to take the top fairing off to remove the instrument panel. From what I remember, the panel opens pretty easily. The lamps are the small push fit things, I think they are referred to as wedge lamps. They're not exactly expensive, and there are two different types used in the instruments. I'm sure I ended up ordering the wrong one last time....
Fiche for the instruments shows:
34908-MB9-871 x7 (larger) £2.04 inc vat.
34908-MG9-951 x2 (superceded by 34907-KW3-003) (smaller) £1.38 inc vat
It's very hard to tell what goes where, but five of the seven larger ones go in the idiot lights. It looks like one of the smaller two and one of the larger ones go in the speedo, and the tach only has one of the smaller ones, with the last large one going in the temp gauge, but that seems a bit odd to me. Perhaps they are arranged so the light permeates around the cluster? Given that one of each would only cost a pint of beer, I'd double the odds and get both just in case... lol
