Hey all,
Doing a load of work to the NC30 (viewtopic.php?f=62&t=46467) and I'm suffering from a case of the throttle sticking. I took the carbs off to swap the needles and clean the jets, got them back in and attached the throttle cables and the throttle sticks where it is almost through the entire motion. It stuck before right at the end sometimes, but not much. I have new grips (no bar end on at the mo, so it's not rubbing against that), cleaned out and oiled the throttle housing, greased under the throttle tube etc - so everything is more or less new and everything is absolutely lathered in GT85, so my thinking is that it must be cable routing. I've put new rads on (from the recent group buy) and can't remember how the cables route.
Can anyone shed any light on how to route all the cables at the front (clutch, throttles, speedo mainly). If anyone has any pictures of how to do it correctly (not just 'this is how I have it' - the proper way, although failing that your way will do fine!). Some high-res photos would be much appreciated!
My front end has always been a mess and the top infil mounts are snapped, so it needs a good sort out and re-route...
Cheers,
Dan

Re: Front end cable routing / sticky throttle
Go to home page, document library, nc30 service manual, then pages 1.21 to 1.24 for cable routing.
First, loosen the cable lock nut near the twist grip throttle housing and screw in the adjuster to give more free play, until you can feel slight free movement.
Then try the throttle return.
Some times the cables get twisted, with the wrong one routed on the top where they pass around the frame head stock.

Cheers dude, I found the original manuals in another thread and went to inspect. Routed them a little better, and tweaked the cable end nuts I've got it working spot on, 10x better than before! :)

Re: Front end cable routing / sticky throttle
I just run the pull cable and never have an issue. The throttle opens and snaps shut very nicely. never get any drag and it feels sharper.
An NC is for life, not just for Christmas!
