cylinder head stuck nc30

Post by rubenastley » Mon Jan 06, 2014 3:37 am

Hey guys, i posted a while back about this and havent had time to sort it out.

I've followed the HAYNES guide and the rear cylinder head is stuck.

I removed the carbs

I removed the left and right frame bolts that hold the head in place, also the 16 bolts after taking out the cams.

In total i have remove 18 bolts in total and the carb unit. Am i missing something?

Stupid question - Have you removed the cam carriers?

There are bolts in the V - they hold the gears from crank to cams - check for that one - Unless it is on the front head and I am making it up..

but in the middle of the V - covered in shit - a bolt!

Also - give it a tap with a rubber mallet - they are stuck nicely, as you would expect.

thanks for the reply but the cam carriers are removed.

CMJMJ1, legend... i totally skipped a whole paragraph on the haynes manual and did not remove the bolt in the V of the engine. Apparently i have to remove the water pump as well?

Don't have to touch the water pump if you are only removing the head..

Legend, well, I do try!

Keep us posted on how it goes...

You might have to remove the water pipe in the v if you can't get to the bolt with a spanner. Also...this is a stupid question, but I take it you removed the exhaust manifold, right?
