Leaking Carburetor

Hi all,

I've got a '94 CB400 I'm slowly cafe racer'ing...

anyways after a ride i'll park the bike in the garage, and within 30 minutes the entire house smells of gasoline.

I've had a close look and found that the fuel seems to be leaking from a screw out of the lowest point of the carburetor, now i'm not very mechanically minded so i was hoping someone could tell me exactly what this is, and if the carby will be effected if i tighten the screw to prevent leaking?!

If you have a friend who has a swingarm stand ask them if you could borrow it and sit the bike on that parked. The fuel will be appearing to leak from there due to the bike leaning to that side causing the fuel to go to that point.

If you can get a small screwdriver in there and tighten the screws for the fuel bowl. There are 3 per carb. The one at the back and 2 at the front. Be careful that you do not accidentally screw in the idle mixture screw in the middle when you do this. if not thatn it may be the float bowl gasket. And I am not sure if that can be done with the carbs in place.

That's the fuel drain screw, it should be tight.
If it still leaks after you've done it up you will need a new O ring on it.
Make sure fuel isn't running off the float bowl then onto the screw area if it is then it's the float bowl gasket.
