Does anyone have any tips for cleaning up an old tarnished stainless system?

I was wondering if I should buy some pickling paste? I have a bench polisher but never used it on stainless but I imagine it needs to be pretty good before buffing anyway.

i've used an acid gel on mine to get rid of any sever crap and corrosion, then just wet and dry then autosol it came up brilliant .

no sorry it was a pot of stuff my dad had in his workshop, a good scrub and some degreser will have the same result, may jut take a little longer

I use pickling paste wot I use for cleaning welds, it works well.

I use nylon scouring pads and solvol then polish with cloths on lightly tarnished exhausts for really grotty pipes if removed from bike had varying degrees of success using alloy wheel cleaner acids oven cleaners etc to remove the worst of the crud first. Have a look in your local pound shop for oven cleaners etc there was someone on here who had good results using one of the oven cleaning kits from poundland or the pound shop which the parts were left in a bag containing acid gel.
The above methods are ok on mild steel or stainless if alloy maybe too brutal.

Its off the bike so I can get to everything, Just deciding the method of attack!

It was a half system on ebay, I think its a Yamamoto one. Just need to find a link pipe or make something as its cut down quite short, but I've read on here its how its supposed to be.

I had one of those systems the yamamoto end can for that system was one piece with the link pipe, any fabricating place or exhaust manufacturer should be able to make up a link pipe easy enough.
