Post by hoppy41 » Wed Jul 10, 2013 4:55 pm

hi, can anyone please help, starter motor will not turn over. Bike has been standing a very long time. Engine may be seized,is there anyway to check?

I have changed the starter relay, though this makes no difference :(

The crankshaft can be turned by removing the hexagonal plug from the righthand side of the engine there is a 14mm bolt that can be turned with a socket and bar if the engine is not siezed.

As Superjack says this is the way. But first of all i think that if you don't have mechanic experiance it is better to give the sf to a mechanic. But if you still want to try it by yourself,i think that you must have the service manual.
Here some help for the first steps:

Take care,i think something is broken inside and if you try this work perhaps you gonna make more damage.

I think a valve maybe stuck. Would crankshaft jam if this happened? :?:

Yes piston would hit it do not force it , If you remove the camcover it could be possible to see if a valve was stuck in the open position, in which case its a head off job.
