Ben

Assuming this is for the NC30, through a similar experience I found out the following....

Honda used a fairly generic 5/8 MC on many of the bikes in the 80's 90'sincluding the NC30. At some point in the 1990s they (for some reason) switched to a metric 14mm MC, so you need to check you get the right kit for your MC as 5/8"= 15.8750mm - hence not interchangeable.

As you can see the correct size/spec o f the MC is stamped on it (same on the rear MC)
wether it is 5/8" or 14mm.Image

I got a MC refurb kit which turned out to be 5/8" from GF. Thankfully he told me abou this issue so I checked when I got home and sure enough both my bikes are 14mm...which meant a re-order for a 14mm set ... OEM parts only unfortunately :( .

Mines definitely 5/8" I didn't think the NC30 was though?

Which is what I would assume, it's just that I don't know that for sure myself and wondered if there was a definitive answer.

I managed to pop the pipe off that the reservoir goes to - was gunked up with weird yellow powder.
I'm going to go for the rebuild kit here:

but when cleaning it up yesterday I noticed some gunk right inside the master cylinder I can't get rid of, hopefully these pictures show what I mean. Most of the inside is shiny clean other than about 1cm at the very end.

Cotton bud held by some needle nose pliers maybe? It shouldn't really effect the working i wouldn't imagine as long as the spring seats ok. The important area is the bore which is clean so the piston will move freely and it's just displacing fluid through the hole at the end.

So finally got round to ordering the rebuild parts, also got a new switch and rubbers for my calipers (was going to get bleed screws and caps too but for the price wasn't worth it), I think the pads are ok but I'll check later.
