Exhaust doesn't seem to line up right!!??

Hi guys,

I fitted a second hand standard exhaust system to my NC30, the old one was rotten and had a rubbish end can on it, I noticed when I got the bike that end can didn't sit parallel to the under side of the seat unit on the hanger but she had been on he side from the previous owner(s), now I've put this system on it still doesn't sit parallel too the seat unit!!?? I had to push down firmly on the standard end can for it to go on the hangers for it to go on, but as it doesn't line up parallel with the seat unit and is angling more upwards, I can't fit a standard indicator in!?

If it's been down on its side could this of bent the rear manifold? As it's not making the standard system line up. And has anyone else had or has this problem?

If anyone can get back to me it would be great!

When it went down on its side there is a good chance that the sub frame has been twisted or bent to the right, caused by the exhaust hitting the ground. I can notice this on mine slightly.

something is prob bent

as mentioned prob the subframe

when fitting anything it is best o fit everything loose and then tighten up

if you start at one end and tighten each bolt as you go then by the time you get to the end things dont fit

exhausts and fairing panels if you have to force them to fit then eventually something will crack

Cheers forgetting back to me guys,

When I fitted the system I did leave everything loose till the last minute, but cheers for the heads up.

So its probably the subframe then, I didn't know if the manifold would of been bent as it has been down on the exhaust side. How easy are these subframes to be bent back? Or would you suggest that I source a second hand non crash damaged subframe?

Pretty sure I read a guide about buying second hand nc30s somewhere but cant remember where. The bent subframe was mentioned as a common thing to happen when the bike has been crashed on the exhaust side. From what I remember the author said to strap a scaffold type pole or similar across the back end of the subframe and try to twist it back to where it should be, you'd need someone to help you. Sound crude but could be your answer.

check the number plate in relation to the tyre you can soon see if the subframe is bent.

mine was twisted shit loads after i binned mine.

Right guys,

sourced a second hand subframe from ebay, which is straight and has no crash damage, got to wait for it to arrive now!

Just been out in the garage and undone the exhaust from the hangers on the rear footrest and bracket, it went with a bit of a twang, as i had to pull it down a bit to get it on the subframe (which i assume is bent). Would this of bent the standard system I've put on? Hope i haven't bent it and when I go it fit it to my new subframe it wont line up still!? I didn't force, hang or pull on the thing massively to get it too fit when i did.
