NC30 engine rebuild partlist

Post by krisztian_andre » Fri Jul 05, 2013 6:17 pm

I'm trying to slowly collect all the parts needed to rebuild my engine. I want to rebuild it because it eats a lot of oil, the gearbox has worn dogs and is down on power.

What parts will I need besides rings, a full gasket set and valve stem seals? Is it best to change the gearbox as a whole or only parts of it (I seem to remember rick-o selling some heavy duty gearbox parts)?

How probable is it that I'll need to go up in size on the pistons/rings?

Why not buy a new motor?

You need to have some mechanical skill and tools to do this, and the cost is very high. If your asking what you need pehaps you can not do the work.

The more important thing is cost.

The valve stem seals are about 10gbp each and you need 16 of them. the gearbox parts can be hundreds of pounds too.

Pistons / rings impossible i thin as there are no pistons / rings available for worn bores besides oversized kits.

If its eating oil becuase of worn bores its basically scrap

There are no new motors, I'll buy a used one to fit and rebuild the one I have.
I appreciate your concern but if I was looking to save money I'd be riding a honda wave or something sensible like that. This is a hobby project.
