NC24 Cam Mod

Post by EvanTate » Tue Apr 09, 2013 6:36 pm

Hi guys,

I have a spare set of cams for my NC24 and as they don't often run a cam (especially as I don't let the front wheel lift, ever) was wondering if it would be possible to have them cut to try get some more power out of the bike? If so what would be a safe deg to have them cut to without having to modify the rest of the motor. Already have a free flow exhaust with 120 main jets all round.

I'm more used to car motors so this is quite new to me. If it's going to be a hassle to run cut cams I'd rather just sell them.

No point, it will cost a lot to get minimum gains at the sake of power in the useful part of the rev range.

Sell them...

As above.

Most car engines are made, tested to max power then downtuned some for the road and emissions, which is why its often easy to get some more power out of a car with a filter, exhaust and cams etc.

The NC series of bikes was designed from the factory to make 50-60hp.

There in quite a high state of tune already so there really isnt a lot you can do to get more power without some serious work.

As an example, the race kit from Honda that you could buy back in the day came with new pistons, rods, cams, ignition box, lots of work on the head and an open airbox setup.

Cammo I believe has prodvided copies of the F3 (race kit) manuals in one of the sticky threads if you want to see the race setup.

Had the bike dynod? aroudn 60hp is the best to expect without major work, id keep the money for when something explodes like bearings, or chain / tyres etc
