Fuel Petcock Rebuild?

Post by RVFHooligan » Sat Jun 07, 2008 4:57 pm

Anyone help me out with info on how to clean/rebuild my fuel petcock. Are there kits for this? As you may know the tank is full of rust and I'm wondering how much is inside the petcock. You can see the debris in the screens. Any help? Thanks. I will run an inline fuel filter once the bike is back together as a precaution.

Also, does anyone have a close up picture of the small bracket securing the fuel knob on the underside of the tank. For some reason my bike did not have one.

OK, but does anyone know how those screens come off? Does that side of the assembly screw off or is it "glued" in? Thanks for the reply Rick I'll be contacting you in a few weeks to place an order for some parts.

IIRC on mine it popped off, definitely appears to be press fit... but it's been a while, so hope someone will chime in.
