Hi All
At the last MOT the tester found some roughness in the steering bearings at the extremes of lock. As there is not much chance of riding at the moment I thought I would get them changed.
My question is what is the best way of supporting the bike while doing this?
I serviced the forks earlier in the year by putting a length of threaded rod through the headstock with an eye bolt on the end, then lifting with the hoist thats built into my garage. This worked well, surprisingly stable! But will not work for removing the steering bearings.
Any ideas?
Cheers and a happy riding year.
John

Re: Steering bearings
When I did the ones on my NC23 I had the exhaust off and on a rear paddock stand then put a bit of 2x4 under the sump supported by axle stands and it was extremely stable

Re: Steering bearings
I have done mine by lifting the footpegs onto axle stands (more stable than a paddock stand, but probably not necessary if you have an abba) and support the front of the bike with ratchet straps from the garage roof around the frame.
