Can you take apart a multi-plug?

Post by rich2302 » Fri Dec 21, 2012 11:12 am

Hi Guys,

Have a few problems with the electrics on the other halfs NC30. On closer inspection, a lot of the male spades inside the multi-plugs are quite corroded.

So what I'd like to do, is to remove these spades one by one and clean them properly, question is, does anyone know how they can be removed from the plastic plug?

Thanks in advance,

Rich

yes they can, you will see a small tab on the spades you need to bend in with a pin (and bend it back out before you shove the spade back in)

it locks against a pience of plastic inside the moulding.

The terminal pushes in from the back [wiring side] so is removed by sliding a very thin blade in to the front of the plastic connector and pulling the terminal out from the back

I use a straightened dental scraper to push the tab in and tug on the wire, it does help with a third hand or putting the plug in a vice

Brilliant! I never thought of putting it in a vice.
