Cutting front sprocket cover

Hi all,

Changing front sprockets is a bit of a pain trackside. I have seem some bikes with a cut cover up front so they can change sprockets without removing anything.

Is there a particular shape the cutaway needs to be or is it just hack it all off as you please? (but leaving three bolts there).

Thank you Mr Munky. So you've cut right along the edge where it joins the main body. I found the tt manual in the docs section of this site (thanks for that) and yes, it looks like it is just "cut it all away".

Hah! I don't have one! But, I feel somewhere in my life there will be a place for one. :-)

My personal philosophy is what you save on labour paying someone else to do it, you should spend on tools and give it a go yourself.

I haven't really needed an angle grinder yet, but, hmmm ... that rear section of the subframe is sure looking a little superfluous for a race bike .... hhmmm .. maybeeeee. :-)

Funny thing is, just yesterday I had the subframe off to clean it up and give it a lick of nice aluminium VHT barrel paint - and it looks pretty much just like that in the photo. No hacking off of parts tho. Next time.
