Rubber grommet for fuel tank- how to???
My bike recently serviced, guy must've "misplaced" the Cush seal grommet that slots in with the front of the fuel tank.
All good. Purchase an OEM grommet, have looked at Haynes manual for diagram in which way it fits but the way it's shown in the diagram I can't seem to get it to just sit there as it's supposed to.
Can anyone explain where this grommet is supposed to snuggly fit??? Am I doing something wrong??? Am I missing something.
Ps. 96 nc35 with tyga kit, any more info needed please let me know
Everyones input is greatly appreciated in advance

It will only fit snugly one way, as long as you have the 2 bits on the side that point down and kind of wrap round the metal bracket you cant go wrong

Do I slot the rubber in first then tank or put the rubber on the tank somehow and then try "jam" it in???

There no need to jam anything in, place the rubber in the tank first then slide the tank on to the frame. I dont wanna state the obvious but the can see how the rubber locates into the cut out on the frame cant you?

No, you're not stupid. Getting the front rubber mounted in the tank bracket is a rain pain the bum, and if it's come adrift the first time you've taken the tank off and you didn't see how it went in, you can spend ages trying to work out how the hell it goes in! Once you've figured it out, it's a doddle, although actually mounting the tank can be a bit fiddly the first few times. Don't lose the side rubbers, the bloody things fall off when you least expect it and vanish to places you can't fathom. I took my tank off last weekend, moved it four feet into the garage, and when I reinstalled the tank, one had gone, never to be seen again. I swear it grew legs and walked. Often they end up in the bellypan or somewhere beside the airbox, but I gave up looking after half an hour. There's another fiver gone...

Glue them on, from new they have a little sticky strip on the inside to keep them on the tank.

Sounds familiar, but is was about 8 years ago I got the current ones, or rather remaining one... got another coming so I'll make sure the bastards can't escape when I fit the new one.... sigh.

Put the rubber on the frame first (the strange hole should be on the right side) and the put the tank on after.
