A while back I bought some genuine oil seals for my forks, however I either didn't spot or wasn't bothered at the time that they were HRC ones rather than bog standard ones. I wasn't really that bothered when they arrived, until I read the big sticker on the back that goes on about how they're racing ones and have no sort of guarantee, etc...
They look almost if not identical to the non HRC ones, so should I be worried about using them? I presume they're either softer, slightly less tight or something like that to reduce the stiction on the fork leg? I don't do inter-stellar miles any more so I'm unlikely to wear them out in short order, but I'd rather not have to bugger about with the forks again in a year's time if they are prone to early failure due to their nature for the sake of getting another pair of seals of the 'proper' type....

Re: HRC fork seals
Argh I forgot the difference!
Many times it is just that Honda never bothered to get the certification for road use as it would add extra cost.
I think there is a slight difference.
Search on here im sure I read the thread on this board

Re: HRC fork seals
Haven't found anything on the board elsewhere, slightly awkward that the search function ignores HRC, however elsewhere it was suggested there's an extra lip on the standard seals to help clean off any crap that might have got past the outer dust seal.

Re: HRC fork seals
The same source suggested that all the markings on the seals were the same, and agreed with Neo's suggestion that Honda simply couldn't be arsed to get them type approved as approved ones were already available. I'll take some pics at the weekend when I get back.
