I believe it's either 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 turns out...so screw them all the way in, then back out 2 1/4 turns, or 2 1/2.
What's the bike do when your trying to start it? when you say you 're-built' the carbs, what did you do exactly?

Strip clean then ultrasonic cleaning then reasembled with a few new o rings, the screws were set to 1 1/2 turns out so that's where I reset them. Mmmmm standard is 2 1/2 turns out you say? that may be the problem.
Any other CBR common probs worth knowing about?
My bike has sat for a least 2 years before I got hold of it so needs some work....

It's always worth a good clean, they seem to get blocked quite easily, especially the idle jets!
I think its 2 1/2, that's what I have been told, although have always tried to avoid touching mine!
When you try to turn over the bike, what does it do, I'm assuming you can hear the starter motor? you can 'feel' the fuel pump working? and fuel is definately getting through the carbs? you definately have a spark?
Start with the basics! can't go wrong then!
Good luck! let me know how you get on!

I reset the pilot screws then found that No 3 & 4 plug leads were back to front! cleaned the plugs and it now works
Still needs loads of work on cooling system, forks, etc....
It does have a nice whine to it though.

Pilot screws - 2 1/4 turns out (2 1/2 is for Tri-Arm)

It still needs a bit more fettling so I will set it up later when I've got the new downpipes on.
