Hi steve for a standard jap bike it is not worth the cost but if you have a tuned engine with higher compression ect it may well be worth the extra cost and should show some performance gain hope this helps rick

Re: Fuchs Silkolene PRO BOOST Octane Improver
NC30 is designed to run on Unleaded 91 octane (or higher fuel)
Improving octane of fuel does not give any more power unless the bike can use it.
In this case the NC30 only requires 91, anything over is not needed. Regular is fine for this in the UK as it's 95 RON.
Maybe if you were in the outback of the states and get some 86 gas (which is the eqiv of UK 90RON) you might get a bit of knocking and need it.

i used to use it on my tuned KR1S - a must if you have a higher CR, otherwise it makes no difference

Re: Fuchs Silkolene PRO BOOST Octane Improver
Higher octane doesn't increase power, it's as simple as that. It also doesn't 'clean' the engine or fueling system, that would be the detergents used in the fuel. However, higher octane fuels tend to have more detergents than lower octane ones.
Higher octane is only good for vehicles designed to use it, which is generally higher performance engines, and these engines usually have a slightly retarded ignition timing to compensate for the difference in burn rates of the octane and hence giving more power. So unless your bike is tuned for a certain octane, don't bother.
And certainly don't bother with that shitty bottled 'octane booster'. It's a gimmick and does nothing.

Exactly right. You only need the octane when you have a more effective c.r. and can then wind on some advance to good effect upto a point. The benefits of having an engine built to a higher c.r. to use this include more torque, power and response. However once optimised to this fuel/ c.r. it will NOT tollerate crap fuel and will start to detonate catastrophicaly!

I've read somewhere that if you get more performance when using a higher octane fuel ie 99RON over 95RON that it shows an underlying problem that your engine is running correctly. Higher octane isn't supposed to increase performance, but if it does then your engine isn't set up correctly.
I'm not entirely sure if that's true but it's just something I've read so don't quote me on it...
Hopefully someone can clear this up for me.

All high octane fuel is for is to stop or delay detonation which is caused y too high a compression ratio.

Re: Fuchs Silkolene PRO BOOST Octane Improver
I have dyno tested varoius stock engined bikes with octane booster/iridium spark plugs vs stock plugs/super unleaded vs 95 ron and none made the slightest difference.
