trouble starting after bike sitting

Post by gullarm » Sat Apr 07, 2012 2:44 pm

My bike refuses to start if its been run for over 15 mins then left for an say hour. Leave it parked for a 2-3 mins its fine.

I went to the shops yesterday then when I got back to the bike she wouldnt fire. I bump started it down the road no problems.

I tried twice yesterday to see if the problem repeated when I got back from the shops, left it in my drive for an hour and she wouldnt fire again. Bumped down the street started no probs.

I have a solar charger connected to my bike 24/7 when its parked up in my garage, so this afternoon after leaving it for 24hours I gave it another go and my bike started no problem from cold.

I have never really seen this problem before as I tend not to stop and park up when Im out on my bike, I just go out and come back.

10 months ago - new plugs, new batt and new reg/rectifier. I also balanced the carbs about 2 weeks ago.

Any ideas - Im tempted to remove the carbs and clean them. And at the same time check the valve clearences!
