What is max RPM for NC29 race engine?

Post by PARUS » Tue Dec 27, 2011 10:40 pm

What is max RPM for NC29 race engine? I need it to know for fuel injection map tuning - I have RLRMotor engine with Kent cams. I suggest I can reach 16000 RMP, but like to check first. :?:

I programmed mine to 13,500. It makes it's power up to 12,500 and gives you a little bit of over rev. On a race engine especially that's where you want to limit it to. Cam's are typically used to boost mid-range or in the case of the Kent Cams perhaps even top end.

But as long as you are not running Carrillo Rods, with lightweight pistons, I wouldn't recommend it. And even if you have the engine built by Honda themselves I still wouldn't recommend it.

All depends on state of tune, how much skimming had been done, valve overlap, how fresh are your valve springs, etc... 16000 to me seem very high, I never got any power above 14000 and only a few times did I set the rpm limiter to 15000, based on gearing at certain tracks. It all depends on where you get max power, if your still getting power at 16000, I would love to know what you have done... :)

I'd be scared to run 16k revs. It would make a terrible mess of a nice engine if something went wrong!

I reduced the limit on my race bike to try and give it an easier life.(nc30) It still made power enough...and still broke when it went 3>2 instead of 3>4...

Thank you for responses. I will consider max RPM is 15000.

Hi Parus, you should set max RPM is where you get most bhp..... on a tuned NC29 motor this is normally below 14000, no point running over this if power then drops off..

I guess he means that he will set it at 16000 or whatever, dyno it then adjust it to peak power.

Yes, I need to setup 3D map dimension (Load x RPM). I just like to know what max I can have with NC29 engine and after that start tuning all stuff on dyno.

Will appreciate - if someone say what is timing advance for HRC ECU. I have read it should be +8 to stock 32 ( Full advance 32-deg. BTDC [+/-2-deg. @ 12,000rpm] ), but it's just from my memory and maybe I'm wrong.
