Piston rings, help needed

Post by reverse cylinder jim » Sat Dec 24, 2011 2:41 pm

Hi know its very close to crimbo and you will all be busy but i could do with abit of help, it says in my manual that the rings are marked to show the top of each ring. Think its an R on the top ring and a dot on the second ring. I can see the R mark on the top ring but cant find any marks on the second ring to show which way round it goes. Anyone else had this problem? Can the second ring go either way round?
Thanks James

I don't believe so. If you have a Haynes handy then it shows the cross sections of the 2 rings so you can confirm which way up they should be. The dot or R just makes it easy. Might need a magnifying glass....!

Cheers, managed to get a few hours in the garage today and sorted them.
