Broken coolant pipe cap

Post by Jashdown » Tue Nov 29, 2011 12:48 pm

I'm sure any of you that have pulled the carbys off, have seen the pipe that runs across the engine at the bottom of the V. Well the pipe connector on the left, broke tonight. I was reassembling the coolant system, the bolts were barely more than hand tight, and the part just snapped, one of the bolt holes is completely separated from the piece, meaning it will leak constantly if I try to fit it.

The part I'm speaking about, is part #5 in this link: http://www.cmsnl.com/honda-rvf400rt-nc3 ... t/E15.html

Does anyone have one of these, I don't care if it's second hand or new. Just need to know if you have it and can send it ASAP.

Thanks.

Have you tried RB Imports, Metropolitan Motorcycle Spares or Bike Parts Sydney. Also ebay has a couple of NC30s for wrecking at the moment and if still no luck, how about welding the break and re-machining the surface back to as new.

RB - well they won't give any reasonable price for the cap. They want over $100 for it, when I can get the whole assembly from the UK for less.. Bike parts Sydney don't stock it they said, yet they told me last time that they can get any part I need, hmmmm. I ended up getting it from a wrecker in Melbourne, should arrive tomorrow if I'm lucky, which I'm not, so most likely Monday or Tuesday.

I did try the welding idea, but it would have cost around $100 anyway, so might as well get it from somewhere else.

I got the two caps, the pipe and the thermostat housing from the wrecker in Melbourne for $80, so I'm happy. :D Just wanna ride my damn bike.
