CARB PROBLEMS

Post by skunk1961 » Wed Nov 30, 2011 4:45 pm

Hi All
help please. The bike was running OK, just a bit rough at lower revs and not idling 100%. I decided to take the carbs out and give them a good clean.
After putting evrything back together, the bike wouldnt start and seemed to be flooding.
That was on Sunday, I re stripped them today, double checked everything and put them back again. She started on the choke no problem, set the idle and she seemed to be OK.
I took the bike for a ride and it felt like it was running on 3 cylinders, once on the throttle though she pulled cleanly and revd up no problem, slowed down and she was rough again.
As I pulled in to park I noticed fuel was leaking from the overflow. Went shopping and came back. Bike wouldnt start. FLOODED again after a quick bump start she fired up and same again rough at low revs, but as soon as the revs picked up she fueled cleanly picking up revs crisply and accelerating well, as soon as I got into traffic the bike felt rough again like running on 3 cylinders.
Got home switched off and then tried to restart her, NO JOY.
Any suggestions. She was fine before cleaning the carbs except at idle.

Yep, get a compressor and blow out the floats. That is what is causing your flooding problem. The floats are stuck.
