does the all the fairing on the rear end have to be removed to fit the lock mechanism!
i cant get the damn thing lined up but im hoping theres a nack to it and i dont need to dismantle the rear end aswell as the front

Undo the 3 x cross head large screws on each side (6 total)
Remove the passanger seat.
The whole lot lifts up from the rear, might need a little wiggle, dont' lift it too far as you'll need to disconnect the tail light plug before it'll pull free.
The rider seat and tail light stay attached to it. You can split it further after it's off but you dont' need to do that. So it's only 6 bolts and unplug one connector, will make doing the job easier
