Do I need to count gears?
Hiya all,
Follow on question from "clutchless upshifts" thread.
Ok, going to try avoiding 1st to 2nd clutchless upshifts...
Do I need to mentally count gears?!
Is that the correct approach, with standard nc29 gearing on the road, Ie no close ratio gearing etc.
I'm trying to get into the correct habits and techniques
Hope you can advise!
Cheers
Martin

Re: Do I need to count gears?
The only reason to avoid clutchless shifts from 1-2 is because you can accidentally select neutral and blow your engine... or just look and sound like a fool!
You should always know when you're in first gear. If not, get into the habit of remembering.

Re: Do I need to count gears?
Whenever I ride a busy, buzzy, and vibey Inline 4, I am always looking for another gear.
However, when riding a V twin or V4 there is always one more gear to go.
Try one some day.
