nc23 no spark

Post by kev1nk » Wed Jun 29, 2011 10:03 pm

Hi i have an 88 nc23 which i have just bought. When i went to see it it started up first time and ran quite sweet. as soon as i removed jump leads it ran for 2 or 3 mins then died. I picked it up a week later then got it home now it won't start at all. I have a manual and done all the checks everything is fine apart from the cdi i can't check cdi whats the chances of it being faulty and causing no spark?

No spark could be a multitude of things , you say you have checked everything but have you checked the engine kill switch , neutral switch etc as these tend to be the most common faults as its what they are designed to do but as for the cdi you can pick em up on eBay fairly cheap to eliminate that possibility .

Well today i opened up the cdi unit and found a few burnt components on the circuit board. So it looks as if it is the cdi unit. Anybody got any idea what could cause this???
