Need an exhaust fabricator

Post by VFR400+ » Thu Jun 23, 2011 9:45 pm

Im replacing the JHA end cans as they are in a bad way on the bike, decided to buy some new carbon tubes. Although managed to order the wrong diameter, I ordered some 96mm ID when I think I needed 99mm! Just gone to fit the end caps and of course they dont fit.

Anyone know anyone that could that the caps of either end and produce ones that would match up to the rest of the exsisting system but would have an outer diameter of 96mm to fit the new tubes?

Or where can I find caps to fit then I will find someone local to weld the exsisting link pipes together.

Was so excitied when the tubes turned up today, gutted when I realised.

On a more positive note, passed my Mod 1 today

Are the inlet caps welded to the link pipes then? If so I'd sugest getting the correct size carbon sleeves instead of cutting the system

Yer they are welded on, though prehaps the link pipes coule be cut off and welded to new inlet caps. The tubes set me back £80 notes so thought modifying the caps might be a cheaper option than buy the tubes again. Would return them but ask them to precut them to the same length. In an attempt to save me making a mess of that how that backfired!

I guessed that you would be able to buy inlet and end caps of almost any size although that doesnt seem the case.

According to the PJ engineering site they are the same size as the HRC oe race cans if that is of any help. Not sure if that helps at all.

You could get the right size caps and weld them to the jja link pipes but I wouldn't, jha system are not exactly common and you'd devalue it straight away if you start cutting them up.

If you've got the 96mm hrc sized sleeve you should be able to sell them on easily enough, I'd have em but I'm skint :)

Thats true, I may just have to blag an extra day at work, bite the bullet and reorder them. That will teach me for ordering in a rush, I didnt clean the inside of the old tubes up and measure from the old sealant. Also half assumed being a honda they would be the same size as the HRC. How that was logical I dont know!

Sure you cant be tempted they are very sexy! ;)

Give Birchills automotive a call as they make end caps.
