maybe the filter in the tank has got shit trapped around it slowing the flow of petrol at full load?

empty the tank, take the tape out and inspect the filter,

there are also 4 filters in each of the carbs where the float valve is.

Does it get better if you keep riding it on reserve?

You sure it's not just because the carbs have run out of fuel in the 'on' position? When you turn it to reserve the carbs are virtually dry, it takes some time to get enough fuel through to use full throttle sometimes.

If it changes when on reserve it's usually associated with the pipes in the reserve pipe in the fuel tank, this is the only part of the system that is different for the main and the reserve system.

To get to it you remove the tap from the bottom of the tank, you'll then see how it works and what might be the problem (blockage etc). Upon refitting the tap to the tank it's best to use a new o-ring.
