When I was looking around to get one for my nc30 most of them had a max displayed speed of 199 km/h. The first digit on them didn't have the capacity to change to a '2' (I guess they are designed for a pushbike!).

Worked a treat, I used a small, very strong rare earth magnet epoxied to the brake disc carrier.

The wireless models are probably a neater install.

FWIW, I'm using a Sigma BC 509 off eBay.co.uk (GBP8.58+postage - they're around GBP15 to "Buy It Now"). Gives current speed, trip riding time, trip distance, total distance, and clock (time). Most conveniently has auto-start (no pushing buttons to begin) but you do have to remember to re-set the trip distance if that's what you want.

As for the magnet, one of those super-strong neodymium magnets works a treat. I pulled one out of a computer part (sorry, can't remember what) and it holds onto a brake disc bolt with no difficulty.

Apparently the wireless bike computers don't work on motorcycles (according to posts on other MC forums). Possibly to do with interference from the ignition system.

And, if you're wondering whether a model that includes maximum speed would be fun, consider for a moment whether it might work against you in court.
