I am thinking about going for stick coils on my CB-1. This has a detuned nc23 engine, more or less. I have done a search and found a bit of information, particularly from Greggo. But most of the info is about nc30s, and I can't guess how relevant it is.
I don't really expect any noticeable performance increase, although better cold starting would be nice. I really would like is to do this because I can, to reduce weight, and to get rid of the ridiculous amount of HT wiring.The CB-1's coils are located under the cross member below the tank, just in front of the battery. This means the HT leads are ridiculously long, being routed up, then around the outside of the airbox, then back down to the head. They must be about 5ft long, and in some cases, ie where they reach across the top of the engine (pot 1 or 4, I forget which), even longer.
I have garnered an idea of what needs to be done, and have found some useful wiring diagrams - but could anyone who's actually done this give a proper write-up? I am most interested to know which coils physically fit the head best (for both length and diameter), and match the required resistance. Pictures would be a big bonus.
