Hi this is my first post
I've taken it off the road to do some things to it like a custom paint job ect but I could do with some advise please-
I went to start my bike the other day and there are no dash lights/ no oil light/ no neutral light or horn, but it will try to turn over.
It does start now and then for 10 seconds or so but I've noticed that the rpm metre needle doesn't move at all
If you've got any ideas, any advice would be great,
Thanks,
Ben

Welcome..
Check your fuses
Make sure the kill switch is in the right position (we all do it)
Then get is mechanically sound and working as it should before making a tart's handbag out of it (unless it is glittery, brown and has orange pinstripes already
)
Either way, stick about, put some pics up and let us know how you get on...
btw - not too wise to start it willy nilly as the plugs don't like it too much..they die and they are not cheap

Is the battery ok?
As Mark says, it's an aquired knack to start these, full choke, no throttle, hit the button, let it catch before using any throttle or it'll flood so easy.

Hi, thanks for the replys - noo it isn't any of the fuses (I've checked and double checked!) or the kill switch, I was wondering if it might be that the cdi has died (but i hope not!)
and i was thinking lime green with pink polka dots

If the whole dash is out then either a fuse or earthing issue. especially if it tries to turn on the button.
So..you'll have to trace the wires - can you check for continuity?
Where you based? Someone might help you out...

The front loom connects though a series of block connectors on the left side of the bike just behind the radiator, this too might be a place worth looking at as it's the direct feed to the clocks and switch gear.
I saw it so I took it!

Re: vfr nc30 help needed please
Thanks to everyone for your help,
Just got it running- I've cleaned all the earth points and unpluged and reconneted all the block connectors so it starts on the button now!
... but I've still got no oil light and it ticks over at 9,000 then dies down to 6,000 rpm (ish)..?
