You'll need a flywheel holder (I made one out of some scrap steel - see the haynes manual for more info!), and some sort of puller to remove the flywheel, an M20 x 1.5 bolt can be used for this. Probably best to use a new genny cover gasket too, use a scraper or blade to remove the old gasket material. I drain the oil before this, but apparently you can lean the bike over to the right if you don't want to drain it.marcus57 wrote:I have a lightened flywheel but i dont have a clue how to remove the standard one?#
It's a simple job once you know how. Take a look through the carb jetting guide, any more questions just ask.marcus57 wrote:Also i will be running a mercury sp1 style system , i have some 122 jets i think from Rick O, is this all im going to need for my carbs? Re: Flywheel removal & carb q's
Cheers for the quick reply, i already have the case off the engine , i never even thought to have a look in my haynes so i will do tomorrow.
I will print out the guide tomorrow and give the carbs a go, whats the worst that can happen
.
Would i cause any damage by re fiting the carbs as they are to get it running and then seeing what the issues with the fueling are and then getting a second set of carbs and work on those?

Not really any chance of damaging it unless you're riding for sustained periods at high revs and a big load while the fuelling is way out. At your risk and all though...marcus57 wrote:Would i cause any damage by re fiting the carbs as they are to get it running and then seeing what the issues with the fueling are and then getting a second set of carbs and work on those?
If you're running a standard filter and airbox most jetting combos are known so not much guessing involved.

Yeah its a standard type filter and airbox, just the exhaust system being added.

Get your hands in there and sort it. It is not a big deal really and once you started then no turning back!
Genny removal is no worries, you can lean it over on an axle stand under the peg or against a wall. Ay oil that comes out will be a minor few dribs and drabs.
Carbs, well..it can be very satisfying to sort them suckers out!
